The Person You Admire Most
Each man has his idol. This is more true about the pupils. In my life I have Biren Babu — Birendra Krishna Banerjee, our former Headmaster. He is the person whom I admire most in my life. He was a man of rare qualities. I understand he knew his pupils more than their parents. He knew almost all of us by name. He had in his store information about his students.
He loved us. It was so spontaneous that we could never think him to be an outsider in our life. We could tell him about our well and woe, problems and solutions, joys and anxieties at ease. He loved us from the deep core of his heart and we loved him equally. We had deep regards for him. To us he was the embodiment of love, wisdom and justice.
Under his able guidance we got lessons from books as well as outside world. He encouraged his pupils to take part in co-curricular activities like games and sports, writing articles, painting, recitation, debate, quiz, eloquence and other healthy cultural activities according to our aptitude. During his tenure the academic performances of our school reached its peak. This versatile personality was ever uncompromising in his principles. He kept his head always lofty and high.
Perhaps he had to pay for his dauntlessness. Still he did not bend down. This is what has inspired me most. I’m sure I will never be able to reach that height but why should I not follow the footsteps of a noble man whom I have seen live.
