International Mother Language Day

International Mother Language Day all over the world. The Day was declared as such by the UNESCO. It is being observed since 2000 throughout the world. On 21 February, 1952, the young men of Bangladesh faced the bullets of Pakistani rulers and were killed. They wanted to uphold the honour of their mother tongue-Bengali. The UNESCO has outlined the aims of the Day.

The aim of the observance of International Mother Language Day is to promote linguistic and cultural diversity of nations. It is likely to develop fuller awareness of linguistic and cultural traditions. It will also inspire solidarity. The Day is observed in a befitting manner in Bangladesh and West Bengal. Bengali language is bringing the people of two countries closer.
